Adult Eczema - Will your children have eczema?

Eczema is thought to be a hereditary condition, so it tends to run in families in which there is a history of eczema, asthma, or hay fever. Recent studies have shown that 80% of children born to parents who both have had or do have eczema will also have the disease. However, it can affect a child in a family where there is no known history of these conditions. Equally, it will not necessarily affect all the children in a family. If you already have one child who has eczema, there is a 1 in 4 chance your next child will have it, though if both parents are affected, the risk is greater.
