Adult Eczema - Bathing and Showering

Bathing and showering helps to hydrate your skin. You can bathe as often as you like as long as you apply a moisturizer immediately after. Depending on where you live, you may find that you need to hydrate your skin more or less often. Keep the water temperature cool or warm, not hot. Soaking in the tub can be good for your skin because it can help the skin's outer layer absorb water and become less dry. Soak for 5 to 10 minutes, then use a soft towel to pat dry without rubbing.

After the bath
Apply a moisturizer immediately after you pat dry your skin. This helps seal in the moisture.

Soaps and hair products

Commercial soaps, hair products, perfumes, scented lotions, or shaving cream can cause serious irritation to your skin. Bathe only with a mild soap and use only as much as necessary. Avoid using it on your face.
