Antihistamines

 

These are sometimes prescribed or available over the counter to aid sleep and relieve itching. However, histamine does not appear to play a major role in the itching caused by eczema. A doctor should always be consulted before giving antihistamines to children.

Cautions: Overuse can produce excessive sedation.  Use only when absolutely necessary.
