Antibiotics
Antibiotics are used to treat the secondary bacterial skin infections that often accompany eczema. Bacterial infections, like staphylococcus and streptococcus, are common in the skin of people suffering from eczema. Scratching can cause the skin to break, allowing these micro organisms to enter the body. The immune systems of eczema sufferers may also be compromised, making it more difficult to fight off skin infections.
Cautions:
Nausea, diarrhea, and allergic skin rashes are the most common side effects. It is important to notify your doctor if any unexpected side effects happen.
