Ease "My Life With Eczema" Art Contest Rules & Regulations
TO ENTER: To enter the Eczema Awareness, Support and Education (EASE) Program National Art Contest (the "Contest"), entitled, "My Life with Eczema", participants ("Contestants") must submit the completed template (the "Entry") downloaded via the EASE Program website at www.eczemacanada.ca and www.eczemahelp.ca. No purchase or fee is necessary to enter.

Limit of one Entry per person.
ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible to win a prize, a Contestant must: a) be a Canadian resident; b) be under thirteen (13) years of age at the time of their Entry submission during the contest entry period (November 1 – December 31, 2011; c) have their Entry signed by their parent or guardian and; d) not be an immediate family member of any employee of Astellas Pharma Canada, Inc. (“Sponsor”), Sponsor’s public relations or advertising agencies, or any of the Contest’s judges. The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations. The Contestant’s parent or guardian must sign their Entry, to provide consent: (a) for the Contestant's participation in the Contest and attendant publicity; and (b) for the EASE Program's exclusive and unrestricted use of the Entry in the EASE Program’s promotions, including, but not limited to, display on the EASE website and medical dermatology clinics, and use in media relations materials.
The contestant’s drawing and text must fit into the template downloaded from the EASE Program website at www.eczemacanada.ca , or received by mail as described above. Text may be typewritten or in legible writing in English or French. No revised versions will be accepted after the initial Entry submission. All Entries become the property of the EASE Program and will not be returned.
DEADLINE: The contest begins November 1, 2011 ("Contest Start Date"). To be eligible, Entries must be postmarked by Saturday, December 31st, 2011 and received by the EASE Program no later than Friday, January 13th, 2012. No submissions will be accepted after the deadline for any reason.

Entries must include a return address, clearly written on the front of the envelope. Neither the EASE Program nor the Sponsor is responsible for lost, late, or misdirected Entries.
WINNING ARTIST SELECTION: The winning artist will be chosen by a panel of five (5)judges according to the outlined criteria and in the manner indicated below, and announced via the EASE Program’s website, newsletter and in the media during the month of February, 2012. The winning artist will be selected at energi RP on Friday, January 20, 2012.
Entries will be reviewed using a five-point rating based on the following criteria:
- Use of colour
- Use of space
- Uniqueness
- Personal story
Entries received will be reviewed and pre-selected by the EASE Program in the following manner:
- The EASE Program will select ten (10) entries based on the above criteria from all of the entries received. These ten (10) entries will move on to the next round of judging.
- Out of these ten (10) entries, a panel of two (2) dermatologists and one (1) art therapist will each select their top five (5) semi-finalist entries that best represent the criteria listed above. Their choices will be sent to two (2) final judges representing the Canadian media and artistic genres, who will make the final selection of one (1) winner and two (2) runner-ups.
The decisions of the EASE Program and the judges are final.
PRIZES: The prizes are as follows:
All participants will receive acknowledgement of their participation upon receipt of their completed Entry. A confirmation letter including a “Penny’s World” magnet will be mailed to the return address specified on the Entry.
Main Prizes: The winning artist selected from among the semi-finalist Entries will receive a one thousand five hundred dollar ($1500) Canada Savings Bond issued in their name and mailed to the return address specified on the Entry.
A first and second runner-up will also be selected from among the semi-finalist entries. The two runner-ups will each receive a two hundred and fifty dollar ($250) Canada Savings Bond issued in their name and mailed to the return address specified on the Entry.
No substitution for, or transfer of a prize, will be allowed. The odds of being selected for the Main Prizes depend on the total number of eligible Entries received during the contest period.
WINNER NOTIFICATION: The winning artists will be contacted by phone at least three (3) times within fourteen (14) days after being selected by the Contest judges. Messages with a return number will be left. If the winning entrant cannot be contacted in that time, the first runner-up will be named the winner, the second runner-up will be named first runner-up, and a new artist from the semi-finalists will be named second runner-up. Where a selected entrant cannot be contacted because of incomplete or incorrect information, the EASE Program will use reasonable efforts to contact the selected entrant. If the EASE Program is unable to contact the selected entrant within fourteen (14) days, another entrant will be selected and the initial selected entrant will have no further recourse towards the EASE Program or anyone involved in the Contest. The winning artists, and his/her parent or guardian, will be required to sign a standard Declaration and Release form confirming compliance with the Contest Rules and Regulations, the Eligibility Requirements, if applicable, acceptance of a prize as awarded and releasing the Contest Sponsor and the EASE Program from all liability.
REGULATIONS: The Contest is subject to all federal, provincial and local laws. Personal information provided to enter the Contest will be used only to administer the Contest, and for no other reason in accordance with Canadian privacy laws. No permanent records of any such personal information will be retained, except as required for the administration of the Contest.
For Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the board only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
As a minimum, the persons specified in section 12 of the Quebec Rules respecting publicity contests must be excluded in all cases; Section 12: a person for whom a publicity contest is carried on, his employee, representative or agent, a member of the jury and the persons with whom they are domiciled may not enter the contest.
By participating in the Contest, Contestants agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the EASE Program, the Sponsor and its affiliates, employees and contractors, and judges from any and all liability, claims, damages, actions or causes of action whatsoever which they, their heirs, successors, assigns, executors or administrators may now or hereafter have directly or indirectly against them or any of them in respect of or relating to the Contest and/or the acceptance or use, misuse, or possession of any prize. Winners agree to sign a liability waiver form to this effect. Any expenses and costs, which are not specifically linked to awarding the prizes, will be the Contestants’ responsibility.
By submitting an Entry, Contestants agree to abide by these Rules and Regulations and the decisions of the EASE Program, which are final. By accepting the Main Prizes, winners agree to the use of their name, their submitted artwork, and/or photograph, without payment, in any subsequent publicity carried out by the EASE Program and/or its public relations agents. The Sponsor reserves the right, subject to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, to cancel or modify the Contest if fraud or technical failures compromise the integrity of the Contest as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion.
